Oklahoma Boat Insurance
Now that summer is here and in full effect, it's boat season. Time t get on the lake as much as possible for relaxing, fixing, swimming, and tubing. There will be plenty of lake days full of camping and BBQ. But one thing you are going to need before you head out is the proper Oklahoma boat insurance.
What Kind Of Boat Insurance Policy Do You Need?
Some smaller watercraft may be covered by your home owners policy. Examples of this would be canoes, kayaks, small sailboats, or watercraft that travels less than 25 mph. It is important to speak with your agent to know exactly what your policy covers.
Yachts, power boats, speed boats, waverunners, jetski's, and other water craft will require a policy of its own. These policies cover you against more things such as damage, theft, medical payments, property damage and more. And it carries a separate deductible.
Boat Insurance Coverage
There are two different types of coverage when it comes to your boat. There is the actual cash value, which covers the proce of the craft less depreciation at the time of loss. It is based on guides and other resources to determine the actual market value of the boat. And then there is the Agreed Amount Value which is based on an agreed value between you and your agent that does not include in depreciation.
Boat Safety
There are thousands of boating accidents every year. Failure to follow guidelines and practices can result in injuries or worse. Make sure your boat is equipped with proper safety equipement such as lights, bells, horns, flashlights, flares, a radio, tools, spare parts, and a first aid kit. Do not operate a water craft if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
